The international schools of Bangkok

In and around Bangkok, 47 schools declare an international accreditation. They trace a corridor to the south-east, away from the Sukhumvit towers where housing supply is concentrated. Around them, large apartments remain the exception.

The criterion: accreditation, not the word “international”

The directory of the International Schools Association of Thailand lists 122 member schools in Bangkok and the three provinces around it. Of these, 47 declare at least one international school accreditation: CIS, NEASC, ACS WASC, COBIS, Cognia, MSA-CESS or the French AEFE approval. This episode follows those schools; we place 31 of them on the map.

Limit · Accreditations are those each school declares in the ISAT directory; they have not been cross-checked one by one against the accreditors' own directories. ONESQA (the Thai national assessment), EDT, ISI and NDNA do not qualify on their own: Brighton College Bangkok, for example, declares only EDT. Among the selected schools, 16 have no verifiable coordinates and are not on the map. The following chapters count developments within a 1.5 km straight-line radius.

What our database says, and what it misses

Our public.schools table labels 110 institutions “international”: 87 schools, 15 kindergartens, 5 colleges and 3 universities. The label follows the word “International” in the name: 103 of the 110 carry it, and all 550 names written in Thai are filed as “thai”. Of the 47 selected schools, 23 are among those 110, 3 are present but labelled “thai” (Bangkok Prep, The Early Learning Centre, La Petite Ecole) and 21 are missing, including Bangkok Patana School and KIS International School.

Limit · The table, created on 21 August 2026, reproduces OpenStreetMap objects at identical coordinates; Neo4j holds the same copy, 2,145 School nodes, and the NEAR_SCHOOL relationship links each development to its three nearest schools, all curricula combined, within 8 km. Neither says whether a school is accredited. The episode's counts use a 1.5 km straight-line radius.

Where the schools cluster

The 47 schools fall into eight sectors. The densest is a south-eastern corridor: Bang Na and Phra Khanong (7), Prawet, Suan Luang and Saphan Sung (6), then Bang Phli on the Samut Prakan side (6), making 19 schools, 40% of the total. Central Sukhumvit (Wattana) has 7, the Rama 9 – Ramkhamhaeng axis 7, the river and Thonburi 6, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani 5, the north-east 3.

Limit · Sectors are drawn from the district written in each school's ISAT address; the grouping is ours. It covers all 47 schools, located or not. No radius here; the following chapters use 1.5 km, straight line.

Method and sources

Prices are asking prices, surveyed on 23 September 2026 in our database. For each development we take the median price per square metre of its unsold units; for an area, the median of those medians, shown only from 20 developments upward. A unit is set aside as an outlier below 10,000 ฿/m², above 1,000,000 ฿/m², above 500,000 ฿/m² on less than 30 m² or with no known floor area, above 500 M ฿, or with less than 10 m² per bedroom. The off-plan share counts developments whose status is known. Distances are measured as the crow flies. Euros are converted at €1 = 38.374 ฿ (13 September 2026).
